Operations and results of the Center of Technology Western-Pomerania (Germany) by Mario Kokowsky, Managing Director:

  • Key fields of operations: ICT, Environment technologies, Plasmatec, Medical technology, Renewable energies, Senso technology
  • Founded in 1991, 14 employees, budget c.a. 1MEUR per year
  • Services to tenants (except traditional services): investment consulting, preparing market analysis and feasibility analysis, preparation and implementation of international cooperation projects, organization of international networks and consortiums
  • Survival rate of start-ups in technology centre – 90%; 52% of all start-ups survive after incubation period in technology centre; 78% of technology enterprises go international within 5 years

  • Research focus of the University: Molecular Biology and medicine, Plasma-Physics, Community and personalized medicine, cultures of the Baltic Sea – based on regional development priorities and perspective branches of economy;
  • Hosts Siemens Centre of Innovation and Competence;
  • Strong focus on R&D: IPR, Contracts and matching research and development;
  • Active on attracting third party financing for R&D;
  • Facilitates and maintains network of science, business, spin-offs and intellectual property rights agencies;
  • Facilitates the Centre for research support and commercial services – for researchers provides following services: acquisition of funding, drafting of contracts, project management, IPR realization and utilization, advancement of women and young researchers, international contacts, research information systems; for industry: cooperation between industry and science, Siemens centre of knowledge interchange, marketing; for entrepreneurs: transfer screening, scouting and coaching of spin-offs;
